VI INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL CONFERENCE “FORMATION OF SUSTAINABLE LAND USE: PROBLEMS AND PROSPECTS”. THEME OF THE YEAR – “SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH OF YOUNG SCIENTISTS”

On December 16, 2025, the 6th International Scientific and Practical Conference “Formation of Sustainable Land Use: Problems and Prospects” was held in a hybrid format at the Land Management Institute of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, dedicated to the theme of the year – “Scientific Research of Young Scientists”
 
The event was organized by the Land Management Institute of the NAAS of Ukraine and the Council of Young Scientists of the Land Management Institute of the NAAS in cooperation with the Council of Young Scientists of the Department of Agrarian Economics and Food of the NAAS, the Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IRWiR PAN) (Warsaw, Republic of Poland), and Dicle University (Diyarbakır, Republic of Türkiye).
 
The event was held with support from the project, in which scientists from the Land Management Institute of the NAAS of Ukraine also participate – “Substantiation and measures for implementation of a human rights-based integrated approach to rural development, food security and land policy in post-war rebuilding of Ukraine” (abbreviated as “rUAr: Rebuild Rural Ukraine”), funded under the “Long-term program of support of the Ukrainian research teams at the Polish Academy of Sciences carried out in collaboration with the U.S. National Academy of Sciences with the financial support of external partners”.
 
The conference was moderated by Mariia Zavodiana, Junior Researcher at the Land Management Institute of the NAAS of Ukraine.
 


 
The official opening of the conference began with welcome speech from Yosyp Dorosh, Academician of the NAAS, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Director of the Land Management Institute of the NAAS of Ukraine; Maksym Kropyvko, Deputy Academician-Secretary of the Department of Agrarian Economics and Food of the NAAS, Doctor of Economics, Senior Researcher; Dr. Vitaliy Krupin, representative of the Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IRWiR PAN); Professor Öner Çetin, representative of Dicle University; and Roman Kharytonenko, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the Land Management Institute of the NAAS of Ukraine, who presented the activities of the Council of Young Scientists of the Institute and the achievements of the Institute’s young scientists.
 


 
Conference participants presented the results of scientific research on land resource management, food security, environmental monitoring, and sustainable territorial development.
In particular, presentations were held by:
– Roman Kharytonenko, Andriy Dorosh, Roman Derkulskyi, and Mariia Zavodiana (Land Management Institute of the NAAS of Ukraine) – “Scientific substantiation of land management for post-war reconstruction and ensuring the capacity of rural territorial communities”;
– Adrianna Wojciechowska, Vitaliy Krupin, Katarzyna Zawalińska, Piotr Grądziuk, Aleksandra Perkowska (Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IRWiR PAN)) – “The soil health and farming practices: preliminary insights from the Polish case study of the SoilValues project”;
– Neşe Yaman (Dicle University, Türkiye) – “Environmental effects of wastewater use in irrigation”;
– Hanna Lysenko (Institute of Food Resources of the NAAS) – “Food provision for the population of Ukraine in current conditions”;
– Stanislav Vasylishyn (“Institute of Accounting and Finance” of the NAAS, National Scientific Center “Institute of Agrarian Economics”) – “Transformation of accounting and reporting support for sustainable development policy in the context of European integration”.
Following the presentations, a discussion took place during which participants discussed issues of rural territory reconstruction after the war, improving land use efficiency, soil protection, and international cooperation in the field of sustainable development.
 


 
In the afternoon, sectional sessions were held across 11 conference tracks, including: land resource management under martial law and post-war reconstruction; ecological and economic mechanisms of sustainable land use; institutional framework for land management development; land and soil quality monitoring; development of land cadastre and geoinformation technologies; land reclamation and implementation of innovations in land management.
The sections were moderated by leading scientists of the Land Management Institute of the NAAS of Ukraine: Shamil Ibatullin, Oksana Sakal, Mykola Malashevskyi, Andriy Dorosh, Roman Kharytonenko, and Mariia Zavodiana.
 


 
In conclusion, participants emphasized the importance of engaging and supporting young scientists in forming modern approaches to land use, developing international cooperation, and implementing innovative land monitoring methods.
