On the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, a meeting of the Bureau of the Department of Agrarian Economy and Food was held at the Presidium of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine on February 24, 2026.

On this occasion, a foreign member NAAS of Ukraine – Monika Stanny, Doctor hab., Professor, Director of the Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IRWiR PAN) addressed the participants of the event with a written statement.

Prof. Stanny expressed profound solidarity with the scientists of the NAAS of Ukraine and the entire Ukrainian scientific community, emphasizing that election as a foreign member of the Academy is not only a great honor for her, but above all a duty and responsibility to support Ukrainian science in these extremely difficult times.

The Director of IRWiR PAN also highlighted the prospects for scientific and research cooperation between IRWiR PAN and Land Management Institute of the NAAS of Ukraine. Indeed, the shared experience of recent years prompts deeper reflection on the restoration of social and institutional capital in rural areas, the new architecture of local development in the aftermath of war, as well as the adaptation of agriculture to climate change and the challenges of energy transition.
