On September 17, 2025, the Land Management Institute of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine (NAAS), jointly with the Boyarka Forest Research Station of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (NULES) and the Kyiv Regional Council, organized and conducted the kick-off meeting of the multi-actor platform of the LandShift project in Kyiv Region.
 
The LandShift project (https://landshift.eu/), titled “Co-Creating Living Spaces in Changing Landscapes for Climate-Resilient Land Management Based on the New European Bauhaus Principles”, aims to transform land use practices to support climate resilience and sustainable community development. It is funded under the EU Horizon Europe research and innovation programme, Grant Agreement No. 101182007.
 

 
The event took place at the NULES of Ukraine. Initially planned to be held outdoors in the university’s Botanical Garden, it was relocated to Room 69, Building 1, due to inclement weather (heavy rain).
 

 
The event was moderated by Andrii Tarnopolskyi, representing the All-Ukrainian Public Organization “Union of Land Surveyors of Ukraine”.
 

 
The meeting opened with a welcome address by Roman Tytakalo, Chair of the Commission on Ecology, Natural Resources, Hunting, Water Resources, and Elimination of Consequences of the Chornobyl Disaster and Other Emergencies of the Kyiv Regional Council, who emphasized the importance of developing an integrated approach to land resource management at the regional level.
 

 
Roman Derkulskiy (Land Management Institute of NAAS) presented the background, context, and strategic goals of the LandShift project, highlighting its aim to establish a new model of sustainable land use through interdisciplinary collaboration, community participation, and the use of digital land governance tools.
 

 
Oksana Sakal (Land Management Institute of NAAS) introduced the project’s methodological foundations, including the LivingLab and LivingSpace approaches, which promote inclusive environments for co-creation of solutions involving scientists, educators, civil society, local communities, businesses, and government authorities.
 

 
Oleksandr Melnyk (Boyarka Forest Research Station of NULES of Ukraine) outlined the core goals of LandShift, which include implementing sustainable land use approaches, forming Policy Labs and Community Labs to test practical solutions, supporting spatial and ecological transformation of agrolandscapes, and developing cooperation models between science, business, and communities.
Andriy Dorosh (Land Management Institute of NAAS) presented the vision for the roles of stakeholders and partners – namely, representatives of science and education, public authorities, local governments, civil society organizations, businesses, and technology partners.
 

 
The event was attended by representatives from government, academic, civil, and business sectors, including:
– Kyiv Regional Council – coordinator of regional initiatives and legitimizing stakeholder platform;
– Bucha, Irpin, and Boyarka City Councils – pilot sites for LandShift implementation;
– Kyiv Regional Development Agency;
– Ukrderzhlisproekt;
– NULES of Ukraine;
– Institute of Agroecology and Environmental Management of NAAS;
– Business representatives: LLC “Geomatics Solutions”, PJSC “Obukhivske”, various farm enterprises;
– Civil society organizations: Union of Land Surveyors of Ukraine, Ecoaction, Permaculture in Ukraine, Center for Environmental Initiatives.
Participants agreed to establish a local multi-actor platform for joint development of land use transformation solutions in Kyiv Region through the integration of nature-based solutions in planning processes.
 

 
As a result of the meeting, the next steps for the platform’s activities were also defined, including the preparation of a roadmap of actions, a plan for conducting thematic workshops, and the identification of contact persons responsible for coordinating joint initiatives.
