Participation of the Land Management Institute of NAAS of Ukraine in the International Scientific Conference “Economic and Social Consequences of Crises”

On June 12, 2025, researchers from the Land Management Institute of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine took part in the international scientific conference “Economic and Social Consequences of Crises”, held at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) in Poland.
The event brought together over 200 experts and academics from across Europe and beyond to examine the social, environmental, and economic impacts of crises, and to exchange strategies for enhancing resilience at both global and regional levels.
 
As part of Thematic Session 1, the Ukrainian delegation delivered a joint presentation titled:
“LandShift Kyiv Region Living Space: Co-Creating Climate-Resilient Landscapes in a Post-Crisis Region”,
prepared within the framework of the Horizon Europe LandShift project.
 


 
The presentation was delivered by Dr. Roman Derkulskyi, PhD in Economics, Research Fellow at the Land Management Institute of NAAS of Ukraine. The report was co-authored by:
– Dr. Oksana Sakal, DSc (Land Management Institute of NAAS of Ukraine; Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development, Polish Academy of Sciences – IRWiR PAN);
– Dr. Roman Derkulskyi, PhD (Land Management Institute of NAAS of Ukraine);
– Prof. Shamil Ibatullin, Academician of NAAS of Ukraine, DSc (Land Management Institute of NAAS of Ukraine);
– Dr. Andriy Dorosh, PhD (Land Management Institute of NAAS of Ukraine);
– Dr. Yevhenii Khan, PhD and Ms. Iryna Zibtseva, MSc (Boyarka Forest Research Station, NUBiP of Ukraine).
 


 
The presentation highlighted tools for land-use monitoring and institutional collaboration aimed at restoring and transforming post-crisis regions like Kyiv Oblast through climate-resilient approaches and Nature-Based Solutions (NbS). The LandShift project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement No. 101182007.
 
Participation in this prestigious conference served to promote applied research results, strengthen academic partnerships, and position Ukrainian science as an integral contributor to European sustainability initiatives.
