On December 12, 2023, management and researchers of the Land management institute of National academy of agrarian sciences of Ukraine, consisting of Doctor of Economics, Prof., corresponding member of the NAAS Yosyp Dorosh, , Doctor of Economics, Prof., academician of NAAS Ibatullin Shamil, Doctor of Economics, Senior researcher Oksana Sakal, PhD in Economics Roman Kharytonenko, PhD in Economics Andriy Dorosh, PhD in Economics Roman Derkulskyi took part in the international forum “Small producers on the guard of food security: the UN Declaration on the Rights of Peasants and Other People Working in Rural Areas”.
 
The event was organized by:
– NGO “Knowledge Platform – Agrarian Development and Rural Innovations”;
– NGO “Association of Farmers and Private Landowners of Ukraine”;
– State Institution “Institute of Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine”;
– Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IRWiR PAN);
– Association of Small Farmers of Romania.
 
The event was opened by representatives of the academic community – director of State Institution “Institute of Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine” Heyets Valeriy, Doctor of Economics, Prof., academician of NASU of Ukraine, Director of the IRWiR PAN, Prof. Monika Stanny, as well as Head of the Department of Economics and Policy of Agrarian Transformation of the State Institution “Institute of Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine” Prof., corresponding member of the NASU Olena Borodina.
 
The key topics discussed at the international forum were:
– The UN Declaration on the Rights of Peasants: five years after its adoption by the UN General Assembly;
– Food security in times of war: challenges and opportunities;
– Realization of peasants’ rights in post-war agrarian and rural development.
At the end of the event, a draft Resolution was prepared to become a tool for protecting the rights of peasants and a key link in the political dialogue with decision-makers.
