On September 7–11, 2026, Warsaw, Poland hosted the international Polish–Ukrainian Science & Technology Forum, organized by the Representation of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) in Kyiv, the “Fundusz Współpracy” Foundation, and the CEE Startup Bridge Foundation. Forum events were held across several key venues in the Polish capital, including the headquarters of the “Fundusz Współpracy” Foundation and the Staszic Palace (Pałac Staszica).
 
Opening remarks were delivered by Mateusz Białas, Director of the Representation of PAN in Kyiv; Daniel Prędkopowicz, President of the “Fundusz Współpracy” Foundation; and Mykhailo (Michał) Khaletskyi, Interim CEO of the CEE Startup Bridge Foundation.
 

 
The forum was attended by Roman Kharytonenko, a researcher at the Land Management Institute of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, who is currently completing a scientific fellowship at the Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IRWiR PAN).
 

 
The main goal of the event was to establish an effective platform for deepening collaboration between scientific communities, businesses, and government bodies in Ukraine and Poland, accelerating technology transfer, research commercialization, and infrastructure recovery.
 
The forum’s program covered a broad range of practical and applied areas:
– Innovation, MedTech, and Startups: investment tools for Ukrainian startups, technical challenges, developments in polymer materials and mycelium, and the deployment of modern medical systems;
– Technology Transfer and Commercialization: aligning scientific research with market needs and establishing long-term partnership agreements under the “science–business–government” model;
– Research Funding and Grants: co-funding practices, support mechanisms through NCN, NCBR, NAWA, Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education programs, and the EU’s Horizon Europe framework;
– Digitalization and Communication: leveraging artificial intelligence in scientific research, effective media relations, and presenting research outcomes.
 
During thematic sessions dedicated to the Polish research landscape and funding opportunities, valuable analytical insights were presented by representatives of the Research Centre for Science and Higher Education (CBNS) at the National Information Processing Institute – National Research Institute (OPI PIB):
– Aldona Tomczyńska — Assistant Professor and Head of CBNS;
– Dominika Prudło — Data Analyst;
– Ewa Zegler-Poleska — Research Specialist.
 

 
The speakers detailed support mechanisms for scientific projects through the National Science Centre (NCN), NCBR, NAWA, and programs under the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education, alongside European grant opportunities and statistics on international scientific cooperation. They also presented the digital system “Polish Science Profile” developed by OPI PIB, highlighting trends in Ukrainian student enrollment in Poland and key approaches to doctoral (PhD) candidate training, with a strong focus on quality and internationalization.
 
Participation in the forum provided first-hand insights into Polish best practices for building innovation ecosystems, facilitated the expansion of professional networks, and outlined new avenues for future inter-institutional collaboration.
