On 19. December 2024, the Land Management Institute of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine hosted the V International Scientific and Practical Conference “Formation of sustainable land use: problems and prospects”. The conference was organised with the participation of the Department of Economics and Policy of Agrarian Transformation of the Institute for Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine), the Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development, Polish Academy of Sciences (Warsaw, Poland), and Dicle University (Diyarbakir, Republic of Turkey), with the support of the project ‘Substantiation and measures for implementation of a human rights-based integrated approach to rural development, food security and land policy in post-war reconstruction of Ukraine’ (abbreviated as ‘rUAr: Rebuild Rural Ukraine”), funded by the programme “Long-term programme of support of the Ukrainian research teams at the Polish Academy of Sciences carried out in collaboration with the U.S. National Academy of Sciences with the financial support of external partners”.
 
The event was dedicated to the memory of Leonid Novakovskyi, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Honorary Land Surveyor of Ukraine, Honoured Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine.
 

 
The official opening of the conference began with a welcoming speech by NAAS Corresponding Member, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Director of the Land Management Institute of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine Yosyp Dorosh. At the beginning of the conference, a minute of silence was held for the victims of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, and the fond memory of NAAS Academician Leonid Novakovskyi was honoured.
 
Among the honoured guests of the event there were well-known scientists and experts: Olena Borodina, Iryna Novakovska, Ihor Bystriakov, Yuriy Palekha, Ihor Parenchuk, Olha Dorosh, Oleksander Kovaliv, Iryna Kupriyanchyk, Petro Zholkevskyi, Viktor Chabaniuk, and others.
 
The participants of the conference emphasised the scale of NAAS Academician Leonid Novakovskyi’s contribution to the development of land management science and shared their memories.
 

 
The moderator of the event was Yosyp Dorosh, Doctor of Economics, Prof., corresponding member of the NAAS, Director of Land management Institute of the National academy of agrarian sciences of Ukraine.

– Ihor Bystriakov, Doctor of Economics, Prof., Head of Department of Sustainability Development Methodology of the Institute for Demography and Life Quality Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine) – “Methodological aspects of organising spatial development of post-war Ukraine”;
– Oleksander Kovaliv, Doctor of Economics, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Agroecology and Nature Management of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine) – “Constitutional and land imperatives – the main prerequisites for sustainable development of Ukraine under martial law and post-war reconstruction”;
– Oleksandr Dyshlyk, Executive Director of Geomatic Solutions LLC, and Viktor Chabaniuk, PhD, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Geography of the National Academy of Sciences (Kyiv, Ukraine) – “Harmonisation practice of Ukraine’s IPI* with INSPIRE, taking into account the lessons of DRDSI (Danube Reference Data and Services Infrastructure) pilots”;
– Yuriy Palekha, Doctor of Geography, Professor, Land Management Institute, National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine and SE “Ukrainian State Research Institute of Urban Design ‘DIPROMISTO’ named after Yuriy Bilokon” (Kyiv, Ukraine) – “Urban Planning Cadastre: Problems and Prospects”.
